Florette Mercier Walsh peacefully entered Heaven's gates on December 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Florette was born in Central Falls to the late Narcisse and Florina (Pontbriant) Mercier. She raised her family and resided most of her life in Cumberland. Florette graduated from Central Falls High School and remained close to many of her fellow Class of ‘49 graduates. She was an active member of the reunion committee and always looked forward to planning meetings and luncheons.

While in high school she began work at Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, where she continued to work for over 40 years until taking early retirement. She loved her job and looked forward to going to work everyday and earned many awards over the years, but she was thankful for the time that retirement afforded her to travel and spend time with family and friends.

Florette remained active and enjoyed social outings with lifelong friends, dancing, hosting card games, and going to the movies. She enjoyed reading, travel, needle crafts, and sewing - making many Halloween costumes and curtains over the years.

Florette had a good sense of humor and was a sweet, kind and gentle woman, and a friend to all.

Florette is survived by her loving family, daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Jeffrey Parker of Dana Point, CA; daughter Kathleen Walsh of Cumberland; grandsons Jason Parker, Christopher Parker and his wife Jaquelyn, and great-granddaughter Scarlett. She was preceded in death by her former husband John J. Walsh, and her brother Joseph Mercier.

A private service and burial was held at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI.

The family wishes to extend their warmest gratitude to those who provided support and assistance with her care in her final days. www.thekeefefuneralhome.com
